Course content

Main topics are Planning (rigg planning, scheduling etc.), Production (in-situ concrete vs. concrete elements), Economy (costs of building, recource usage, capasity and costs) and HES at building sites. The course will mainly relate to construction with concrete (housing projects, office and industrial buildings, bridges, etc.).

Learning outcome

The course shall provide basic knowledge about current methods for planning, estimation and construction of buildings and larger structures. Knowledge: The construction process from bidding to hand-over. Methods and execution of groundworks. Concrete works for foundations and building structures. Furnishing and completion of buildings. Scheduling og construction works. Cost estimation of construction works. Rules and regulations of building sites. Skills: Evaluate the building project with regard to critical elements and factors. Plan groundworks. Plan concrete works. Schedule the building project. Estimate construction costs and prepare bids. General competence: Understand the relations between building type, construction method, time consumption, costs, quality and HES.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures, mainly by people from the industry. Exercises related to current buliding projects. Exercises are performed in student groups and results in a joint report by the group.
