About the course

Course content

The module gives specialization within the field of Real Estate and Facility Management. Main topics are: Refurbishment,reconstruction and development of buildings, Real Estate Management, Facility Management, Service Level Agreements, roles and organization, topical legislation regulations and standards.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:
The candidate should have knowledge of selected topics concerning Real Estate and Facility Management. This includes:
- Understanding and application of relevant models, analytical tools and methods.
- Methods for condition and usability analysis, refurbishment, reconstruction, adaptation and development of buildings.
- Sustainable building and climate challenges.
- Roles, responsibilities and organization.
- Legislation, regulations and standards.
- Facility management.

Skills:
The candidate is able to implement and lead processes for development and management of Real Estate and to choose and apply ananysis methods and tools related to maintenance, refurbishment, reconstruction and management of buildings.

General knowledge:
The candidate can:
- Understand the importance, values and challenges of the built environment to the society.
- Know the basic principles for sustainable preserving and development of existing buildings.
- Recognize the Property Manager’s role, responsibilities, and opportunities towards the owners, users and public authorities.
- Apply procedures, tools and methods in a way that promotes good property and facility management.

Learning methods and activities

The lectures will be given in Norwegian. The learning model consists of lectures, seminars, excursions or supervised self study. It should also be carried out a project work, individually or in groups.

Will be given at the beginning of the semester. The literature is mainly in Norwegian.
