Course content

Transport policy topics. Travel pattern and travel surveys. Transport modelling with emphasis on four step modelling and passenger transport.

Learning outcome

The candidate should have knowledge of:
- Travel behaviour; about driving forces and factors affecting travel behaviour, and about how to collect and utilise travel data.
- Mathematical modelling of transport demand, emphasising personal travels.
- Structure and operation of an established transport model.

The candidate is able to:
- Analyse the results from a travel survey
- Estimate the effects of infrastructural and political measures, including parking policies and road pricing
- Use an established transport model to perform simple analyses

General competance
The candidate can:
- Comprehend and present transport related topics to others
- Document systematical project work through report writing
- Handle great amounts of data
- Approach the discurse in transportation planning, both the public and the professional, with critical curiosity.

Class lectures and assignments. The lectures and exercises are given in Norwegian.

Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes a final written exam (70%) and evaluation of one exercise (30%). The results for the parts are given in %-scores, while the entire portfolio is assigned a letter grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral. For a re-take of an examination, all assessments during the course must be re-taken

Specific conditions

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.
