Course content
The basis for evaluation and analysis of traffic safety and risk related to design and regulation of the road and street network, and related to different user groups.

Knowledge:
- Road safety and risks
- Safety-work in Norway and other countries
- Data sources and empirical knowledge of accidents
- ITS solutions and standardization
- Road safety-audits and risk analysis applied in road planning
Skills:
- Carry out safety assessments using risk evaluation and accident analysis
- Carry out statistical before-and-after studies of the influence of road safety measures on risk level and road user behaviour
- Apply and understand program tools for road safety effect analysis
- Carry out road safety inspection
General competence:
- Understanding of how traffic management measures and road design influence road user behaviour and safety
- To carry out TS analyses in team work
- To present results and professional judgements in a clear and understandable way

The assessment in the course consists of 1 school exam which counts for 60% and 3 assignments that together count for 40%. The assignments are thematic and are carried out in groups of approximately 3 students. The first two tasks may be completed individually.
In case of a re-sit exam the written exam may be changed to an oral exam.
