Course content

Project work on a chosen problem in the field of study.

Learning outcome

Knowledge: The candidate possesses and can disseminate knowledge on the problem at hand.

Skills: The candidate can
- identify, formulate and solve a relevant problem within the field of study.
- use knowledge and skills from several subject areas from the study program.
- on their own acquire new knowledge when necessary.
- find, evaluate, and refer to information on a subject material.
- present information in the form of a report exploring the problem, discusses alternative solutions, and normally describes a chosen solution in detail.
- participate in project management and function as a project participant.

General competence: The candidate can
- identify, formulate and solve relevant problems in the field of work of an electric engineer.
- contribute actively to solve the engineering challenges of the future.
- convey knowledge with his field to different audiences, both orally and in writing.

Learning methods and activities

Project work. Problem-based learning in groups.

Further on evaluation

A required pre-project is done in January and has to be approved.
Evaluation of the task is done on basis of project implementation, the report and the executed work. In addition a oral presentation is required.

Specific conditions

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Electrical Engineering (FTHINGEL)

Required previous knowledge

To start the bachelor thesis the student has to have passed 110 of 120 credits from the two first years of the engineering education. These 110 credits must include the 60 credits from the first year.

Course materials

Project manual (Norwegian). Candidate shall find other literature and sources on their own.
