About the course

Course content

This in-depth project valued 15 study points can cover classical fluid mechanics, CFD modelling, turbulence models, multiphase flow, hydraulic machinery and systems, oil hydraulics, wind-, wave- and tidal power plants.

Learning outcome

After completion of this subject the student will have knowledge of one or more of the following: general fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, hydraulic machines, wind turbines, CFD, Experimental fluid dynamics, gas transport in pipelines, multiphase flows.

After completion of this subject the student will have skills: Physical and theoretical understanding fluid flow processes in process and energy systems, and for evaluating components to be used in these systems. Perform scientific and technical analysis of specific topics. Skill to conduct project, establish project plans and write project reports according to current standards.

General competence: Discussing and solving scientific and technical problems as well as formal reporting on achieved results within analyses, design and operation of fluids engineering components and systems.

Learning methods and activities

Independent project work with guidance. The guidance and advice are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.
