Knowledge:
Knowledge related to one or several topics;
- operation, maintenance and legislation
- national and international challenges related to thermal energy conservation and utilization
- thermal heat and power production including CO2 capture
- gas turbines and compressors
- turbulent combustion, heat and mass transfer
- biomass and waste
- air pollution and gas cleaning equipment
- energy utilization in the industry
- environmental system analysis (Life Cycle Assessment

Skills:
Skills related to;
- Detailed evaluation and analysis of thermal energy and process plants, including gas turbine power generation.
- Perform scientific and technical analysis of specific topics.
- Ability to conduct large project, establish project plans and write project reports according to current standards.

General competence:
Discussing and solving scientific and technical problems as well as formal reporting on achieved results within analyses, design and operation of thermal components and systems.

The master’s thesis has to be submitted in NTNU's examination system Inspera Assessment
The deadline for submitting the master’s thesis is 20 weeks from the starting date (the students have additional 6 weeks if they are writing a master thesis abroad.) + 7 days for Easter/Christmas holidays. Applications for an extended deadline must be submitted to the faculty.
Students who fail the master’s thesis, can submit a new or revised thesis once. It is not possible to improve an awarded grade by submitting a new thesis.
The deadline for the assessment of the master’s thesis is 3 months.
