Course content
Radiometric notions and units, the human eye and radiation, photometric notions and units, the photometric laws, the eye and factors for sight, energy converting to light, colour, luminaires, quality criteria, lighting calculations, lighting systems, photometric measurements, road and tunnel lighting, daylighting.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
After completing this course the candidate shall:
- know the photometric terms, the connection between physical and photometric terms, and the basic photometric laws
- be able to give an account of the operation of the human eye
- understand the behavior and characteristics of relevant light sources, and know their applications
- know relevant requirements and design criteria for interior and exterior lighting systems
- know the influence of daylight to the lighting in buildings
Skills:
After completing this course the candidate shall be able to:
- design lighting systems
- make lighting calculations by the utilization factor method and the point method
- design reflectors based on desired light distributions
- use instruments and equipment in the laboratory
General competence:
After completing the course, the candidate has increased:
- skills in cooperation and interdisciplinary collaboration
- ability to communicate effectively to professionals and non-specialists alike through reports and presentations
- ability to contribute to innovation and innovation processes

If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may change from written to oral. Permitted examination aids, support material code D: No printed or hand-written support material is allowed. A specific basic calculator is allowed. In addition, calculator Casio fx-991EX and fx-991CW are allowed.
