Course content
The course consists of two themes at 3.75 ECTS credits each. Choice of themes is done in consultation with the supervisor of the chosen specialisation project. Themes should normally be chosen among the themes offered by the Department of Electric Power Engineering. If the nature of the specialisation project gives a scientific reason to choose themes from other departments at NTNU, this may be accepted under the condition that it is feasible.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
After completing the course, the student shall have extensive knowledge about the topics contained within his/her specialisation course.
Skills:
After completing the course, the student shall be able to analyse and solve problems related to electric power technology in a scientific and professional way.
General competence:
After completing the course, the candidate has increased:
- ability to communicate effectively to professionals and non-specialists alike through reports and presentations
- ability to contribute to innovation and innovation processes
Learning methods and activities
The teaching of the themes may be given as lectures, exercises, seminars or guided self-tuition. Some themes have compulsory exercises and laboratory work. Each theme is given in English if students who do not speak Norwegian are following the theme.
Further on evaluation
Each topic must be passed individually to obtain a passing grade in the course. In cases where a student has failed either one topic or both topics, retaking of the failed topic(s) is allowed within a deadline set by the Department. If the candidate fails in this retaking, the whole course must be repeated the next academic year
Recommended previous knowledge
Knowledge similar to completed 4th year of the master programme in Energy and the Environment within relevant main profile.
