Course content

The research topic is in the field of electric power engineering, covering one or more of the following subfields: electric power systems, electric power technology, and electric energy conversion. The course content varies depending on the selected research problem

Learning outcome

After completing the Master thesis the candidate will have:
• Extensive knowledge of theory, methods, techniques and tools relevant to address the research problem.

After completing the Master thesis the candidate will:
• Have developed independent research skills.
• Be able to conduct a comprehensive literature review/survey.
• be able to formulate and address a precise research problem.
• Be able to collect and analyse data from literature/experiments/other relevant sources.
• Be able to document theoretical comprehension of the methods and techniques employed to address the research problem.
• Be able to critically analyse, reflect upon, and justify the obtained results.
• Be able to assimilate previous domain knowledge with knowledge gained from the literature study and the results of own investigations.
• have effective technical report writing skills.

General competence:
After completing the Master thesis the candidate will
• Be able to communicate the research problem and its results with specialists as well as the general public.
• Have developed applied project management skills, i.e., define and execute a project plan with milestones, intermediate deliverables, status reports, etc.
• Have the skill to build scientific temperament in the acquisition of knowledge through research work.
• Have obtained awareness of integrity and ethics in research work.
- Be able to contribute to innovation and management of innovation.

Learning methods and activities

Independent/collaborative project work with guidance. Regular meetings with supervisor(s).
