About the course
Course content
This course deals with business methods and analysis that entrepreneurs and innovators need to succeed. Through participation in this course the students get presentations and practical training in tools for starting up new businesses through the participation in real start-up cases. The students also get the opportunity to participate in the business plan competition Venture Cup and to draw knowledge from the broad staff associated with this competition. The academic content can be summarized in the following bullet points: - Evaluation of business ideas - Development of business plans - Customer Value and market analysis - Competitor and industry analysis - Business models and organization - Protection of intellectual property - Basic financial analysis
Learning outcome
The course's position and function in the study programs: The course is designed as an elective course for all students. The course provides the following knowledge: Insight and understanding for central problems related to development og a business idea to a commercial plan. In solving these problems the students will in practice work within a broad range og academic fields. The course seeks to establish a comprehensive understanding of the process of firm establishment. Even though the context of this course is firm establishment, the knowledge is also highly applicable for innovative activities in existing organizations. After completing the course, the students should be able to: - Develop a professional business plan - Evaluate and analyse a product/service and its market potential - Evaluate and analyse busines models - Conduct basic financial analysis. Evaluate etichal and sustainability of the project.
Learning methods and activities
The course will primarily contain three types of activities - lectures, group assignments and workshops. The lecture introduces the academic content of the course, and the content is then applied in a practical context in group assignment and in the development of a business case for a real business idea, this is a mandatory assignment.

Further on evaluation
A semester assignment must be submitted which counts for 100% of the final grade. It will be mandatory to submit a draft of the assignment during the teaching semester. The submission deadline will be announced at the start of the course. When retaking the course, a new assignment must be submitted
