About the course

Course content

The course covers the following subjects: Fourier and wavelet filtering, convolution, deconvolution, numerical differentiation, evolving factor analysis, factor rotation, SIMPLISMA, HELP, rule induction, backpropagation, discriminant partial least squares (DPLS), genetic algorithms, genetic programming, time series analysis (hidden Markov models), N-way methods (PARAFAC, N-way PLSR), Kohonen networks and fuzzy cluster analysis.

Learning outcome

The student should obtain an understanding of and be able to use: preprocessing and denoising of data from chemical instruments, multicomponent methods, supervised and unsupervised classification.
