Course content

The course contains two modules:

Module 1: Introduction to logistics (30%) and industrial economy (20%), main topics: Warehouse and inventory, production, distribution and transportation, purchasing, digitalization, logistics in service and manufacturing sectors, the role of logistics in profitability, Introduction to the industrial economy, financial management and investment analysis, accounting, and Cost-Volume-Profit.

Module 2 (50%) Introduction to Excel (spreadsheets structuring, basic functions, and visualization, basic spreadsheet modeling) Introduction to ERP systems Introduction to General law (contract law, contracts, and standards, INCOTERMS)

Learning outcome

Learning outcome, skills, and competence: Knowledge: The candidate shall have fundamental knowledge in logistics and supply chain management as well as economic management. In Module 2 the candidate will gain the basic knowledge of spreadsheet modeling and data analysis by using Microsoft Excel. The knowledge gained through these modules will be used and further expand in the subjects taught in the rest of the study program.

  • 5 out of 6 exercises must be approved

Further on evaluation

Resit Exam (Kontinuasjonseksamen) is held in August. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may change from written to oral. Compulsory exercises, 5 out of 6 are required approved to qualify for graduation.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Logistics - Engineering (FTHINGLOG)

Required previous knowledge

Access to the subject assumes the study right by Bachelor degree in engineering, logistics, NTNU.
