About the course

Course content

Engineering design methodology. Development of concepts and evaluation. Structure- and formvariations. Design with respect to strength and stiffness. Mechanism synthesis. Use of components like ballbearings, pumps, engines etc. Assembly- and production considerations. Sensortechnology and control. Mechatronic methodology.

Learning outcome

Give knowledge and skills for working with practical construction tasks. The construction prosess, the methods and the relevant tools will all be included. Practical methods will be lectured.

Learning methods and activities

The only way to learn how to make contructions is by doing so. During the course of the semester a construction project is to be solved. The project is to be solved by groups of four students. Exercise work has the main focus in this course. Methods and tools are presented and implemented in subsequent exercises. The grade in this course is based on the project work. The actual solution and the procedure to reach it, will each count 50% of the grade.
