Course content
The student must normally choose the specialization course of 7.5 credits listed for the specialization in the study plan. The contents of this will vary depending on the assigned project supervisor and the specialization project. The course can be individual or group based. An ordinary course of 7.5 credits can be chosen instead of the specialization course, if approved by the supervisor for the specialization project and after application to the Faculty of Engineering.
Learning outcome
Ingress: This course will provide in-depth knowledge within the discipline.
Knowledge: The student will acquire specialized knowledge in support of project completion within the discipline.
Skills: The student will be able to find scientific literature and draw out the main elements that are relevant to the project.
General competence: Increased understanding of the discipline.
Learning methods and activities
The modules are given as lectures, eventually with exercises, seminars or self studies. In some modules a report, presentation or similar may be part of the assessment, in addition to an oral exam. Information about this (including weighting) will be given at course start.
Further on evaluation
If the course is based on two topics (which have to have the same form of assessment), the grade in the course will be based on the assessment in both modules. However, in order to pass the course, both modules must receive a passing score.
Specific conditions
Admission to a programme of study is required:
Engineering and ICT (MTING)
Geoscience and Georesources (MSGEOS)
Petroleum Geoscience and Engineering (MTPETR)
Required previous knowledge
Admission to a programme of study is required: Geoscience and Georesources (MSGEOS, specialization within Applied Geoscience) Petroleum Geoscience and Engineering (MTPETR), or Engineering and ICT (MTING, specialization ICT and Petroleum Engineering). It is provided that the student has completed all courses which are listed as compulsory for the specialization in the programme description, or gets approval from the person with course responsibility.
