Course content

Current and advanced topics in digital economics, such as business models and value creation in digital services, economic aspects of deployment of ICT infrastructure. Pricing of ICT services. Cost analysis of ICT systems.

Learning outcome

A. Knowledge:
1) To get a profound understand of advanced topics within tele-economics, including: value creation in the telecommunication industry, business modeling and cost analysis of networks and networked based services, and modeling of telecommunication markets.

B. Skills:
1) To be able to calculate and identify scenario regarding competition in the ICT market.
2) To be able to conduct cost analysis of networks and networked based services.

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and case-based presentations by the students. Attendance to the lectures and presentations is compulsory. Each student will hold two case-based presentations during the semester.
Both presentations must be approved to qualify for the final exam.

Further on evaluation

Portfolio assessment is the basis for the grade in the course. The portfolio includes one of the presentations which counts 50% and an oral final exam which counts 50%. The results for the parts are given in %-scores. The entire portfolio is assigned a letter grade.
If a student also after the re-sit exam has the final grade F/failed, the student must repeat the entire course. Works that count in the final grade must be repeated.

Specific conditions

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.
