About the course
Course content
The course covers advanced theory and methodology within the themes waste management, material flow analysis and industrial ecology, applied to cases such as waste systems, material cycles, built environment, and urban metabolism and environmental challenges of cities. The themes are taught by seminars during the semester, with a lectures and presentations from the teachers as well as the students, and beyond this students do self studying. The themes shall give a theoretical and methodological specialization in the field. The course design and weighting of themes will be decided upon in the start of the semester, and adapted to the number of students and their background and personal interests.
Learning outcome
The course aims to give an in-depth understanding in the area of industrial ecology, with focus on giving a good theoretical understanding of waste management, material cycles, resource utilization, and industrial ecology analysis of built environment.
Learning methods and activities
Seminars and guided self studying, with external collaboration where this is appropriate. The lectures and exercises are in English when students who do not speak Norwegian take the course.

TVM4150 Solid Waste Management, TVM4160 Material Flows Analysis, TVM4162 Industrial Ecology or similar background.
