About the course
Course content
The course is suitable for students who want to read and write academic texts in German at an advanced level (B2 / C1). We will read and analyse different types of text and focus on stylistic variation and conventions related to the various text types. The course aims to make the students aware of and critical to lingual choices in different contexts and contribute to the promotion of language proficiency in German at an advanced level.

-has advanced knowledge of both written and oral German language use (level B2 of the Common European Framework for Languages)

-can comprehend and communicate sufficiently (equivalent to level BA2/B1 C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
-can read and understand formal and informal texts
-can write coherent texts and discuss various issues
-can participate in spontaneous conversations on various topics, discuss and express their own opinion
Learning methods and activities
Teaching (lectures, seminars, written and oral exercises, presentations and group work).
Compulsory assignment:
- 2 written assignments in German
- 1 oral presentation in German
Approved compulsory activity is valid for two terms (term approval is also granted for the subsequent term).

Assessment:
- Written exam, 4 hours
- Oral examination, approximately 20 minutes
The written exam counts as 50% and the oral examination counts as 50% of the final grade.
Both parts of the exam is graded, but only the final grade will be listed on official diplomas and transcripts of records from NTNU. Both the written exam and the oral examination must receive the grade E or better in order for the student to receive a passing grade. If a student fails one or both parts of the exam, they must retake both parts of the exam. If a student resits a passed exam, they must retake both parts of the exam. The exam must be answered in German.
Recommended previous knowledge
TYSK1305 or previous knowledge of German equivalent to the level B1 according to The Common European Framework for Languages.
