About

About the course

Course content

The course gives a practical and theoretical introduction to translation and translation theory from an interdisciplinary perspective and focuses on equivalence across languages, primarily between Norwegian and German. Different theoretical approaches to translation will be discussed. Working on translation enables the students to analyse both the original and the translated text on different relevant levels (for instance lexical, syntactic, semantic, pragmatic, text - linguistics and stylistic) and to discover connections between the structure, meaning and style of a text. In this way, the students develop their understanding of contrastively significant structural differences between Norwegian and German.
