About the course
Course content
The course deals with adult learning and learning processes. The student will be introduced to adult learning as a research field, as well as to key perspectives, theories and models about how adults learn. This includes learning theory related to participant and society perspectives on adult learning. By developing a portfolio the student will work with relevant issues within the field of adult learning through following the different stages of a research process. The issues will be related to adult learning in different learning environments. Within these frames the course will assess lifelong learning related to the individual, companies, organisations and to society in general.
Learning outcome
The overall objective of this course is for the student to acquire knowledge about perspectives, theories and models that elucidate the adult learning research field. The student will become able to utilise this knowledge through describing and analysing relevant problems regarding adult learning in different learning environments. In addition, the student will develop skills to critically communicate about and evaluate research-based knowledge, as well as discussing current scientific problems with others.
Learning methods and activities
Sessionbased-teaching. Portfolio contributions. Portfolio assignments should be about 15 pages long (A4, line spacing 1,5, Times New Roman 12 pt.).
Compulsory assignments
- Partizipation in 80% of the teaching program

Required previous knowledge
As for admission to the Master's programme in Adult Learning.
