Course content

The themes in this course are a continuation of the course Training and teaching in building and construction technology for teacher specialists. Training in the program area building and construction technology emphasizes the collaboration between school and company on the development of teaching and training, and the initiation of development processes on the subject's premises in collaboration with the school's management, students and teachers. In addition, there will be a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship in building and construction technology. The central working method in the course will be planning, implementation, assessment and documentation of R&D work in teaching one's own practice at one's own school. Collaboration between school and company, collaboration with students, colleagues and management will be important in order to develop teaching and training. Collaborating with the pupils/apprentices involves competence in seeing the need to adapt training, interest differentiation, use guidance strategies and various forms of assessment that promote learning. Emphasis will be placed on the development and use of digital competence within one's own educational program, as well as an overview and insight into relevant research. The course aims to map, plan, implement, evaluate and document a Research and Development work that will have an impact on one's own school in a holistic development context.

Learning methods and activities

The study alternates between presentations, discussions and practical exercises. The study is collection-based with collections in two semesters. In the intervening periods, we will work with work requirements and use online resources. Guidance is attached to all work requirements between the sessions and at the sessions. Work requirements 1 a) Students must, in a group of 2-3, familiarize themselves with relevant research and current literature that is emphasized in the course. Presentation of a summary to be shared with fellow students. b) Present how you together with students and colleagues can collaborate with companies. Experience sharing at the collection. Assessment: Pass / Fail. Work requirement 2 includes the implementation, assessment and documentation of a Research and Development work at one's own school. Presentation of data from the trial is emphasized as well as the use of digital tools. The student justifies and elaborates on his choices for fellow students The work requirement is a preliminary project for the fourth and final semester. Assessment: Pass / Fail.

Further on evaluation

The exam includes work on submitting a written report that provides an overview and insight into how the entire R&D work is planned, carried out, assessed and documented. The work must be rooted in relevant theory and reflect on further development in one's own organization. Written sketch documenting the work must have a scope of 5000-6000 words. Guidance is given on this work. Examinations are assessed according to scale A - F.

Required previous knowledge

Completed YR6010 Training and teaching in building and construction technology for teacher specialists. The prerequisite must be completed before the student can take the exam in the course.
