About the course

Course content

Many with a university education will end up in various leadership positions, such as team leaders, project managers, department managers, senior managers and board members during their career. The course provides a basic introduction to management, organizational theory and the management of businesses. This is naturally a very central theme for any business. Those who want to establish their own business will benefit greatly from this topic, as will others who want to become managers in various businesses.

This course is not open for students studying business administration, or similar. This course is for students from other faculties than Faculty of economics and technology management- See credit reductions for more information.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

After completing the course, the student should be able to explain:

  • Goals and strategies in organizations
  • Organizational environment and its importance for a sustainable business
  • Corporate Reputation and Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Different forms of organizational structures
  • Organizational culture and cultural understanding in a broader perspective

Skills: After completing the course, the student should:

  • Be able to analyze, discuss and explain different management principles and management theories
  • Be able to analyze, discuss and explain how a business can be managed and developed
  • Be able to analyze real cases based on the subject's subject matter

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • Critically consider the assumptions on which good management and management are based, in light of sustainability and Social Responsibility
  • Apply personalized knowledge through individual and teamwork

Assessment: Individual homework - 4 hours Assessment expression. Graded grade.

In the case of a re-sit exam and the final exam after the course has been discontinued, the form of assessment may be changed to an oral exam.
