About the course

Course content

The course aims to develop a holistic understanding of the concept of financial management and thus contribute to experience in defining and solving business economics problems.

The course will give students an introduction to different theoretical perspectives that can be used in practical and theoretical problem solving

The course is built around both classical economic theories and modern theoretical perspectives on financial management in its social and organizational context.

The teaching is organized around the following main theme

  • Classical economic theory of financial transaction management.
  • Financial management and behavioral implications. This involves the development of knowledge about performance management, different approaches to management challenges and management in different contexts.
  • Management in different situations. This involves the development of knowledge about financial management practices and management challenges in various practical situations.
  • Change and innovative financial management. This involves the development of knowledge about how financial management technologies and practices play a role in organizational change processes, including how innovative technologies and practices are disseminated in private and public enterprises.

Learning methods and activities

The aim is for a lecture of three hours per week during the semester. The teaching will be given in the form of lectures, seminars, case reviews, student presentations, guest lectures.

Compulsory exercises must be approved in order to be assessed.

In the case of a re-sit exam and the last exam after the course has been discontinued, the form of assessment may be changed to an oral exam

The course is only available to students admitted to a study programme under "special conditions".
