– Programme components

The Nordic Master Programme in "Aquatic Food production – Safety and Quality" AQFood focuses on production of aquatic food throughout the entire production and food supply chain, linking primary production including aquaculture and wild catch with processing and distribution to the consumers in terms of quality and safety.

Foto: Geir Mogen /NTNUThe AQFood Nordic Master Programme offers three distinct study lines of specialization, one dealing with Aquatic Production, a second study line dealing with Natural Resources and a third one dealing with Industrial Production. All study lines take the entire value chain as a unique starting point.

Keys elements of the Master Programme:
•    A double degree (60/60 ECTS)
•    Three Universities of entry UMB, NTNU, DTU depending on the study track  
•    First semester (30 ECTS) essentially as web based learning
•    Specialisation line specific to the university combinations
•    Mobility requirement after first year
•    Focus on the entire aquatic value chain from resource to consumer table
•    Strong link to the industries in the aquatic food sector

Mobility:
The Nordic Master Programme in "Aquatic Food production – Safety and Quality" AQFood is a 120 ECTS double degree obtained in two years. It is a requirement that you start at one University and finish at another University depending on your choice for the specialization.

The first two semesters are taking place either at UMB, NTNU, or DTU with three possible study tracks:
•    Aquatic Production (UMB)
•    Natural Resources (NTNU)
•    Industrial Production (DTU)

The last two semesters take place at one of the 5 universities depending on the study track you have chosen.


Study tracks with mobility and specialization for AQfood students

Each of the five universities in the consortium posses its own student culture, its own very unique student bar, clubs and sport facilities, and during your studies you will spend one year each at two of these universities.

Natural Resources

This is for you if you are interested in Natural Resources from a value chain perspective!

You will start at NTNU and submit your application for enrolment at NTNU In the first year your will gain competences in Natural Resources at NTNU and in the second year you can decide to carry on your studies either at DTU or at HI. At DTU you will gain additional competences in Industrial Production whilst at HI you will gain additional competences in Supply Chain Management.
