Do you want to help safeguard the digital society — in practice?
On the Master’s in Cybersecurity and Assurance, you learn to protect systems and data — and to manage security in real-world settings. You’ll understand how threats arise, how to stop them, and how organisations build robust solutions over time.
The programme combines technology with assurance, compliance and quality assurance. You learn to connect regulations and technology so that controls actually work. Teaching is hands-on and up to date; you’ll train to detect, handle and prevent attacks in a safe environment.
Run in collaboration with six European universities, it offers an international network and fresh perspectives. This master’s programme is taught in English.
The coordinator of CYBERSURE is NTNU. You can find more information about the master’s on the website to be launched here in October.
In the Cybersecurity and Assurance programme, you’ll develop deep skills to analyze security challenges, design and evaluate secure cryptosystems, identify and prioritize vulnerabilities, and implement effective detection and mitigation mechanisms.
At the Cyber Range summer school in Gjøvik, you’ll work through realistic, hands-on scenarios with direct links to industry. You’ll also learn to communicate problems, analyses, and solutions clearly—to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You will spend at least one semester (30 ECTS credits) at one of our partner universities:
- Distributed Systems Security: Aalto, Finland
- Advanced Cybersecurity and Software Assurance: DTU, Denmark
- Big Data Security: EURECOM, France
- Networks and Systems Security: KTH, Sweden
- Security Engineering: TU Graz, Austria
A CYBERSURE master’s degree prepares you for the full security field — from technical roles such as Security Architect, Ethical Hacker, Malware Analyst and implementing security controls, to leadership and compliance-focused roles such as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Data Protection Officer (DPO), Compliance Officer and Security Auditor.
You’ll also gain expertise in cryptography, risk management, policy and tech ethics, and you’ll be able to teach and help build a strong security culture.
With a blend of practical skills and strategic insight, you’ll be in high demand on the job market.
As a student on Cybersecurity and Assurance, you’ll be part of an international environment. The programme uses NTNU’s digital platforms and learning facilities in Trondheim and Gjøvik. Cyber Range in Gjøvik is the key arena for practical training.
Teaching is student-centred, with active learning, project work, guest lectures and close links to industry. A mentoring scheme, surveys and social activities help build a sense of community across campuses.
The Master’s Programme in Cybersecurity and Assurance is a two-year, full-time programme worth 120 ECTS credits. The language of instruction is English.
The first year starts in Trondheim and continues in Gjøvik. This provides a broad range of courses in cyber security, network security, cryptography and assurance, as well as access to the infrastructure used for the summer school in the Cyber Range in Gjøvik.
You will spend the second year at one of our partner universities:
- Aalto University – Finland
- University of Tartu, Estonia
- Technical University of Denmark
- KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden
- EURECOM, France
- Graz University of Technology, Austria
