Mariann Villa
About
Interests: Mobility studies (internal migration, recreational mobility); Rural studies; Local community studies; Cultural sociology; Methodology (qualitative).
Mariann Villa is Professor at the Department of Sociology and Political Science at NTNU Trondheim, and member of the departments research group Migration and Mobility. She was previously senior researcher at RURALIS - Institute for Rural and Regional Research, Trondheim, and guest associated professor in regional and rural studies at Department of Geography, NTNU. She headed the research network Democracy, equity, and the local community: Welfare and education in a globalized world, which guest edited a special issue on rural schools and rural communities; Journal of Rural Studies. Her main current teaching at the Department of Sociology and Political Science is courses qualitative methods and analysis (bachelor, master, PhD). She is member of the research group Equity and Inclusion in Educational Organizations at the Department of Teacher Education, NTNU.
