Course content

The course is based around seminars in which the students will get practical training in qualitative data generation and analysis of qualitative data.

Learning outcome

Knowledge - the student shall:
- have insight into the principles of qualitative research methods
- be familiar with the challenges associated with the use of various qualitative research methods

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:
- use various qualitative methods of data generation and analysis
- be able to read and assess qualitative studies

Learning methods and activities

Lectures and seminars up to 6 hours per week, according to the lecture plan.

Compulsory assignments

  • Compulsory exercises and participation in lectures

Further on evaluation

Form of assessment: term paper and oral examination. The term paper is written as a group assignment.

All parts of the evaluation must be retaken when the exam is repeated.

Specific conditions

Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester. Compulsory activities from previous semester may be approved by the department.

Required previous knowledge

SOS1002 or the equivalent. The requirement must be fulfilled to be admitted to the course.
