Course content

The course contains the following parts: Corporate and project strategy, programme and portfolio management, project office, virtual projects, and management of intellectual property.

Learning outcome

Course position and function; - First Year mandatory course in Master of Science Programme in Project Management (MSPROMAN) and shall, together with other programme courses, fulfill MSPROMAN learning objectives. Course knowledge dissemination: - General knowledge concerning corporate strategy: -Specific knowledge regarding governance and project strategy - Specific knowledge regarding project evaluation and selection - Specific knowledge regarding the establishment, maintenance and development of project programmes and portfolios. - Specific knowledge regarding project office purpose, establishment, content and adaptation to different contexts. - Specific knowledge regarding the establishment and management of virtual projects - Specific knowledge regarding management of intellectual property throughout project life cycle. Course skills development: - Identifying, defining, developing and improving organizations conducting several simultaneous projects - Discussing and reflecting upon how knowledge management and utilization can be improved in this kind of organizations. Other important learning objectives: - The students shall, through classroom based discussions mandatory term paper develop knowledge and skills regarding how to apply theories and experiences to find practical solutions to project related problems. - The term paper deals with one of the topics of the course (chosen by the student group). By using alternative literature and critical thinking concerning this topic, the students should be able identify and partly answer the fundamental questions regarding how to implement a solution within the field of the topic.
