The Research, Innovation, and External Relations Division (FIE) has overall responsibility for establishing, managing, and coordinating strategic programmes and initiatives related to research, innovation, and external relations.

FIE contributes to the implementation of NTNU’s strategy and development agreement with the Ministry of Education and Research. It also initiates and follows up on development plans and strategic priorities in line with these. In addition, FIE coordinates and develops support services for research and innovation for both staff and students.
