The Research, Innovation, and External Relations Division (FIE) has an overarching responsibility for establishing, managing, and coordinating strategic programs and initiatives related to research, innovation, and external relations.

FIE contributes to realizing NTNU’s strategy and development agreement with the Ministry of Education and Research. They also initiate and follow up on development plans and decisions in light of these plans and strategies. Additionally, FIE coordinates and develops support services for research and innovation for both staff and students.
