Background and activities

I have done my degree and masters in Economics in Saragossa (Spain). My masters’ thesis was about which are the factors that influence in native’s opinion towards immigrants. Within the masters’ internship program, I met and worked with the Economic History’s professors of the University of Zaragoza and with them, I did a project about the rural depopulation in Aragón (a Spanish region) and the arrival of immigrants in the first two decades of the XXI century.
Now, I am working in the relation between natural resources and local development. My PhD will explore how local elites, who control the mines, fostered or prevented the development of public infrastructures like schools. For this, I will analyzed if these local powers acted via political or economic power. For example, political power could be through lobbying in the National Parliament or economic power could be translated in paying less taxes.
