Background and activities
I am a PhD candidate at SFI PhysMet, and my background is in physical metallurgy. In my research I will investigate the effect of tramp elements on the microstructure and properties of ductile cast irons. These tramp elements may arise from the utilisation of steel scrap or biocarbon in the manufacturing of cast irons.
My master's degree was completed in 2021. Here I looked at the possibility of improving the structural properties of welded Al-Mg-Si joints through automated local induction heat treatments.
