Anette Arild
About
Medical doctor (cand.med.), graduated from NTNU in 2022. Former student of the Medical Student Research Program during my medical studies. Currently working as a PhD candidate at Trondheim fMRI-group (at the Department of Neuromedicine and Movement Science), continuing the project I started at the Medical Student Research Program.
I am soon finishing my PhD, and plan to submit it fall 2023. Through my work at NTNU I've discovered my keen interest for public health, ageing and science.
Research
In my research I have used data from the Generation 100 study; a five-year long randomised controlled trial investigating the effects of exercise on ageing. My project has focused on the effects of exercise on age-related white matter hyperintensities (WMH) of the brain (a neuroimaging feature of small vessel disease) using MRIs from a smaller cohort from the Generation 100 study. I further plan to look into the effects of other risk-factors on WMH in my future work.
Publications
My first paper did not find a significant effect from exercise on age-related white matter hyperintensities when comparing to a control group following the national physical activity guidelines.
