About:

I work as an Associate Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences Ålesund. I am a biomedical laboratory scientist, have a master's degree in biotechnology and a doctorate in microbiology from NMBU (NVH). On a daily basis, I work with microbiology, microbiome studies and molecular biological analysis methods such as next-generation sequencing (NGS), bioinformatics, and qPCR and PCR analyzes for the detection of pathogens and for gene expression analyses. I have a particularly strong interest in microbiome studies and metagenomics analyses, and in the past work with analyzes of marine microbiota in RAS facilities, microbiota from sea-based aquaculture facilities and some occasional collections of ticks for microbiome studies. In addition, I am working on some in vitro projects where we study virus dynamics in a human enterovirus/rhinovirus (HRV87/EVD68) and how different bacteria affect the virus dynamics of the virus, as well as a project where we develop biomarkers and genetic markers for stress in salmonids in sea phase.

My doctoral work was about microbial communities in ticks and genotyping of Borrelia spp.
