About

Arthur Mason (BA, Anthropology, Columbia University & PhD, Anthropology, University of California at Berkeley) holds an Associate Professorship in Anthropology in the Department of Geography and Anthropology at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim. Arthur is also Visiting Senior Fellow at London School of Economics and Political Science Department of Anthropology and Research Affiliate at University of St Andrews Centre for Energy Ethics. At NTNU, Arthur is co-founder of Anthropologies of Sustainability Research Group and founding member of Team Society. He is currently involved in Mapping the Corridor of Impact: Affects and Pathways of Energy Transportation edited volume project (with Michael Watts) to be presented at Energy Ethics 2026 at University of St Andrews.

Arthur has held funded positions in the Department of Anthropology at Rice University; in the Energy and Resources Group at University of California Berkeley; and in the Department of Anthropology at University of Calgary. Support for his research includes US National Science Foundation Exploratory and Standard grants, as well as J. William Fulbright research awards from the Fulbright US-Norway program, Fulbright US-Russia program, and Fulbright US-Canada program. Arthur's research has received state-of-the-art recognition through awards from the Wenner-Gren Foundation; S.V. Ciriacy-Wantrup Fellowship; and the European Research Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship. (See ORCID & ResearcherID: I-3946-2014).
