Cathrine Kyung Won Solem
Background and activities
Cathrine finished her MSc in 2018 within filtration of aluminium by AlPO4-based ceramic foam filters (CFFs), and is currently a PhD candidate working with dross generation in the primary production of aluminium. Dross is a mixture consisting of different oxides and metallic aluminium, and is not only a direct loss of metal, but also a hazardous waste. The objective for this project is to evaluate different parameters, e.g. temperature, atmosphere and chemical composition of the aluminium alloy and the dross, trying to understand how these effect the dross formation.
