I carried out field research in McGrath, Alaska in two periods, 1999 – 2000 and 2008 – 2011. Based on this research, I received my PhD in October 2017 at NTNU. The dissertation is based on documented hunting and gathering practices, exchange patterns and shareholding businesses among first peoples in McGrath, a remote community on the shores of the Kuskokwim River, Central-Alaska. I studied and analyzed the cultural patterns and logic of exchange in subsistence production, distribution in family and kinship networks among local residents, and their intersection with the economies of shareholding companies owned by Alaskan natives. My fields of interest are themes of ecological and economic anthropology that I taught at the Department of Social Anthropology for several semesters.
