Elham Andalib

Professional Profile
I am a PhD candidate in Building and Environmental Engineering at NTNU, with a background in architecture and interdisciplinary project work. My research is situated at the intersection of the built environment, health, and societal development.
Research Focus
My work explores how physical environments influence health, well-being, and behavior at both individual and societal levels. The overarching aim is to generate knowledge that supports sustainable, functional, and health-promoting urban and housing environments.
Methodological Approach
In my doctoral research, I have developed and validated measurement instruments to examine relationships between built environments and multiple dimensions of health and quality of life. I combine quantitative and qualitative methods, including surveys, interviews, and experimental approaches. My work is conducted in collaboration with public actors and interdisciplinary research environments.
Societal Relevance and Application
I am particularly interested in translating research into decision-relevant knowledge that can inform planning, real estate development, and municipal service provision. I have experience in project coordination, research proposal development, and communicating findings to diverse stakeholders.
Teaching and Supervision
In addition to research, I supervise students and contribute to teaching in urban development and the transformation of existing buildings.
