About
Research
I started my PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in November 2020 and my work is part of the CORAL project. The aim of my work is investigating the mechanism of localized corrosion processes on recycled aluminium alloys obtained from scrap and the developement of a suitable surface treatment in order to improve their corrosion performances achieving properties comparable to primary alloys. The biggest goal of the project is therefore finding a way to encourege leading companies of the sector to use recycled aluminium instead of primary one reducing significantly energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Backgroung
I completed my master in Chemical Sciences at the University of Milan. During my thesis I worked on the sysnthesis and characterization of carbon based materials for the oxygen reduction reaction in fuel cell devices and subsequent study of electrocatalytic and surface properties.
