Research
I started my PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in November 2020 and my work is part of the CORAL project. The aim of my work is investigating the mechanism of localized corrosion processes on recycled aluminium alloys and the development of a suitable surface treatment for improving the corrosion performance and achieving properties comparable to primary alloys. The biggest goal of the project is therefore to encourage leading companies of the sector to use recycled aluminium instead of primary aluminium reducing significantly energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Backgroung
I completed my master in Chemical Sciences at the University of Milan. During my thesis I worked on the synthesis and characterization of carbon based materials for the oxygen reduction reaction in fuel cell devices and subsequent study of electrocatalytic and surface properties.
