Background and activities

I am an Associate Professor in Nordic Literature in the Department of Language and Literature at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. I am primarily interested in how literature relates to history and politics. I have investegated these relations both in contemoprary literature and in the modernist tradition. Currently I am studying how the emergence of the commercial print culture in the late 1800s affected a society accustomed to slower rythms of publication, focusing especially on the impact it had on the developement of the Norwegian realist novel.
