I am a linguist and early career educational researcher specializing in literacy education. My PhD project, "Critical Digital Literacy Skills for the (Mis)Information Society: How Environmental Experts and Novices Read AI and Human-Written Texts", seeks to study the impact of the emergence of AI-powered technologies like Chat GPT on reading, a key learning process, and to inform critical literacy teaching practices since the approaches to text that experts use might have relevance to teaching younger students to evaluate and read digital sources. My previous work focused on writing pedagogy in higher education and the study of transfer between academic and professional writing practices.
I work from a sociocultural approach grounded in critical pedagogy. I have experience designing and conducting qualitative and ethnographically oriented research. I attended various international knowledge exchange spaces, such as the 2023 Dartmouth Summer Seminar on Composition Research.
