Background and activities

Heidi Strømskag is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences since 2015. She has a MSc in mathematics from NTNU, and a PhD in mathematics education from the University of Agder. Her current research areas are: didactical design with focus on the relationship between adidactical milieus and mathematical knowledge; and, teaching and learning of algebraic thinking.

Strømskag is Norway's representative to ICMI (International Commission on Mathematical Instruction).

She is part of the intervention project LaUDiM (Language Use and Development in the Mathematics Classroom), where the theory of didactical situations in mathematics is applied to study and develop mathematics teaching practices.
