About

Jia-Chun Lin is an associate professor at the Department of Information Security and Communication Technology at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology).

Before this position, she was an assistant professor at the same department, NTNU from March 2019 to March 2022. Even before, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Informatics, at University of Oslo and worked on an EU research project entitled "Scalable Hybrid Variability for Distributed Evolving Software Systems" (HyVar for short), which aimed to offer a development framework on the cloud for continuous and highly individualized evolution of distributed software applications. She has been a visiting scientist at University of Göttingen, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and UC Berkely in  2014, 2013, and 2007, respectively. She received her PhD degree from National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan in 2015 and her master degree from TungHai University, Taiwan in 2005.

Her research interests include parallel and distributed computing, cloud computing, Internet of Things, security & privacy, and machine learning. Currently she has published 2 IEEE transactions papers, 12 international journal papers, 24 international conference papers, and 1 book chapter in the above areas. Her current h-index and i10-index are 11 and 14, respectively.

She received an ecucation award (utdanningspris) from IIK, NTNU, 2022, an Unviersity Lecturer Qualification Scholarship (Kvalifiseringsstipend for universitetslektorer) from NTNU in 2019, the Excellent Student Paper Award from NCTU Taiwan in 2015, and two visiting schoarlships in 2013-2014.

She has around 17 years of experience working on research projects and played a leading and coordinating role in many of them. Currently, she is in the e-Health and Welfare Security (e-HWS) research group, and she has her own group consisting of one PhD student and a number of master students. Currently, she supervises two PhD candidates and six master students on IoT-related topics.
