Research

My research focuses on sustainable and socially just transportation systems in the Global South, with particular attention to urban mobility, green transportation, and everyday travel practices. I examine how transport infrastructures, policies, and built environments shape mobility experiences for different social groups, including older adults and other vulnerable populations.

My doctoral research, conducted under the NORHED 11 project at NTNU in collaboration with Makerere University Business School, explores sustainable transportation transitions in East Africa. Using qualitative and interdisciplinary approaches, I investigate mobility imaginaries, walking and road safety, and the social and environmental dimensions of transport systems in rapidly urbanizing cities.

More broadly, my research interests include sustainable development, transport and climate change, urban well-being, gender and mobility, aging and the built environment, and policy-relevant research for inclusive and low-carbon transport futures.

Capacity Building for Socially Just and Sustainable Energy Transitions in East Africa NORHED 11

This project examines sustainable and socially just transportation and energy transitions in East Africa, with a focus on urban mobility, green transportation, and everyday travel practices in the Global South.
