Background and activities
Kim is a doctoral researcher in Humanities and the Arts for the '3R Oceans' Project, which seeks to chart how cultural conditions underpin the use of the oceans. The project investigates the relationships between the Representations, Resources and Regulation of the High Seas and the deep ocean bed.
Kim's research establishes a critical engagement with the discourse on marine plastics. This is achieved by elaborating a philosophy of Media Ecologies, considering the materialities and conceptual histories influencing marine plastic epistemology.
