Background and activities

Viruses may cause severe acute or chronic diseases such as pneumonia and hepatitis. In doing so, viruses evade the immune system and may also suppress immune responses to facilitate detrimental superinfections by bacteria or other viruses. Our research is focused on understanding our innate immune response to virus infections, and studying the interactions between the virus and the host that govern viral replication and the infection outcome, hence determining disease development.

The group also contributes to the Childhood Airway Infections Research Group (CAIR).
