About

I hold a Cand.scient. in Mathematics with a Practical Pedagogical Education (PPU), and since 2003 I have been employed at the Department of Teacher Education at NTNU/HiST, where I train and supervise prospective mathematics teachers.

Throughout my career I have focused particularly on:

  • Mathematics Didactics: Designing and researching instructional sequences that foster deep conceptual understanding and students’ metacognitive skills.

  • Digital Tools in Mathematics: Developing, implementing, and evaluating digital resources—from dynamic geometry and CAS software to online practice platforms and programming environments—to enhance students’ exploration and engagement.

  • Professional Development for Teachers: Designing and delivering continuing‐education courses, decentralized in‐service training, “Competence for Quality” workshops, supervising master’s students, and collaborating with teachers—especially in the area of programming.

As leader of the research group “Learning and Teaching Mathematics with Digital Tools,” I have overseen the development of software for situated practice and the integration of programming into mathematics instruction.
