Oscar Pizarro
About
Oscar Pizarro trained as an oceanographic engineer in the MIT/WHOI Joint Program, specializing in underwater imaging from robotic platforms. He co-founded the world’s first benthic monitoring program using autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), Australia's Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) AUV Facility, which has collected millions of seafloor images and revisited sites around Australia for over a decade. He is interested in scalable autonomous systems for large scale observation of the marine environment and novel optical underwater imaging techniques.
Research
Autonomous systems for environmental mapping and monitoring. Underwater imaging.
