Bjerke is employed at the Section for Art, Physical Education and Sports where he teaches physical education. He has long and broad teaching experience from higher education in most areas of the subject, but with special expertise in motor behaviour, skiing, outdoor activities, and didactics. He has a PhD within the topic of Relative Age Effect in competetive environments. In 2023, Bjerke was appointed "Excellent Teaching Practitioner" at NTNU.
