Research

My major research interests include:

  • The neurophysiology and autonomic physiology of headache.
  • Clinical neurophysiology, including evoked potentials, nerve conduction studies, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and autonomic studies.
  • Reference limits in clinical neurophysiology
  • AI in clinical neurophysiology.

I have comprehensive research experience from planning and carrying out several neurophysiological research projects. I was project manager of the 5th migraine physiology project in Trondheim (Migfys).

I am a member of the research group for Applied neurophysiology, working on the following research projects:

  • The VIKING project: The worlds largest database for clinical neurophysiological studies.
  • The ENTRAPME project: Improved diagnostics for nerve entrapments using machine learning
  • The DIGMINE project: Digital gold mining in historical neurophysiological data for more precise diagnostics

As a member of the Clinical Neurophysiology Research Group in Trondheim, I contribute on several research projects, including the HUNT4 subproject “sleep and pain”, the migraine physiology project in Trondheim (Migfys) and “Autonomic function in posttraumatic headache”

 

Teaching
I’m a lecturer at the medical program at NTNU and have lectures on the autonomic nervous system, visual system and visual physiology, peripheral nervous system, and action potentials and membrane potential. I’m also one of the teachers in the course “basic clinical neurophysiology” for medical students. In 2025, I was nominated for Teacher of the Year in the medical program at NTNU.

In 2021 I was a lecturer at “Course in basic and clinical neurophysiology” for LIS in neurology and clinical neurophysiology. At this course I held lectures on evoked potentials, neurophysiological assessment of the autonomic nervous system, neuromuscular junction disorders and neurophysiological studies in the intensive care unit.
