Institutional Responsibilities

  • Ensure top-quality service and efficient operation of the Catalysis Group's laboratories.
  • Develop and implement administrative, safety, and infrastructure-related routines at the Department of Chemical Engineering.
  • Oversee and advance characterization techniques for catalysts and functional materials, including X-ray spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, Raman, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
  • Manage research data policies and archiving for compliance and reproducibility. Electronic laboratory notebook
  • Coordinate long-term investment planning and laboratory infrastructure improvements.
  • Train and support users, and coordinate laboratory activities.
  • Act as a liaison with NTNU campus services and external vendors for laboratory maintenance and service.

  • Structural characterization of materials using X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD).
  • In situ and operando experimental techniques for heterogeneous catalysts.

Teaching

I give lectures on the topics of  x-ray absorption spectroscopy and synchrotron radiation research, as well as Raman spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy. The lectures are primarily aimed at the field of materials science and chemical engineering, with a specific emphasis on catalysis, but it could be interesting to other disciplines as well.

I aim to convey the principles of these advanced spectroscopic techniques to my students, highlighting the key theoretical concepts and practical applications of each method. I also cover the latest developments in the field, including new approaches and emerging technologies.
